I've been having some interesting thoughts lately.
I'm pretty sure I want to follow photography as a career, but as most "kids" in their early twenties, I'm hesitant to commit myself to just about anything, lol. As most of you can tell, I'm sure, my photography tends to follow certain patterns. I usually end up shooting the same thing over and over. While they may be different pictures, when it comes down to it, I keep repeating the same type of subject matter and style of shot.
I want to change this, and I've been telling myself for a while now that I'll do something about it .... well I still haven't. What I really want to do is start challenging myself, take my work to the next level, and improve my so called "skills".
My solution. I'm going to start making "Projects" for myself. Rather then just going out and shootig whatever looks good, I want to go out and shoot something pre-determined and make IT look good ..... or at least, I'd like to try this. :S I think this will help me decide weather or not to take that plunge into formal training. As it stands, I've been shooting for a little over a year and I am completely "self taught". From understanding how the camera works to everything I do in photoshop.
This is where I need to ask everyone else for some help. I have a feeling that if I start these "projects" entirely on my own I'll just end up reverting to the same generic night shot/landscape I almost always do. So I would really appreciate it if you have any ideas for me, let me know. Comment it here, send me a PM, ask for my MSN, whatever. I feel it would really make a difference to have someone else telling me what I have to shoot.
What types of "projects" you might ask. Well, anything from specific places(don't tell me to go to Japan or something to shoot, lol, I mean local) to certain types of subject matter. Perhaps tell a story about something. Right down to something you'd just like to see a picture or two of. I'm not sure exactly, that's why i'm asking for your help, thoughts, and opinions.
Thanks to all who help out!! I really do appreciate it
